I will post this question here also. What are the best vsts that only require a serial# you paid for to install? This last year I have been using (all great) Komplete 5 Superior drummer 2 Nuendo 4 Wavelab 5 Bfd2 Fl 8 True pianos and a few others I know I am forgetting right now. I love all these programs and will always use them but I may make a new system down the road and change things up a bit.
Lets say you were using these programs but wanted to replace all of them with programs that only require a serial number what would you replace them with? But every time I change hardware/reinstall windows to trouble shoot all the errors/crashes I have had which seem to stem from RAM issues now. I have to go online and redo everything manually and go back and forth between the music computer and laptop and then there is always some issue with a registration or something that makes it a pita. Not the end of the world but. I tried reaper a few months ago and have (after buying it) been using it all the time.If I have to reinstall I just type in my serial that I paid for and its ready to go. What other great apps are out there that just give you a serial number after buying the software?
Korg M1 Air Keygen. Nebula uses challenge response, but like ngarjuna already said, a re-install is no problem as it works for the same machine without asking for another 'response'. Bigtick Rhino2 (couldn't live without that one) KVR331 synthmaster 2 (upcoming, they just, after a poll, decided to drop challenge response; bargain price until about end of the month, and sounds great) Linplug AND Rob Papen were for a few months on 'syncrosoft' dongle, but I thought BOTH decided to go back to serial numbers??
KarmaFX synth (no copy protection at all, just a personal download link) ConcreteFX Kubik (and all there other stuff, Jon Ayres later worked as the synthbuilder for Rob Papen, only the Albino is from Linplug) Geforce minimonsta, m-tron pro, string machine, oddity and impOscar Camelaudio cameleon5000 and alchemy DiscoDSP vertigo, phantom and discovery pro FXpansion Guru1.62 (I guess v2 might be challenge response) rgcaudio z3ta+.and the ones already mentioned:D. I totally see where you're coming from. A while back I made the decision not to purchase or upgrade any more software which uses anything other than serial/keyfile (or zero) CP. The only sticking point for me is Sibelius, which uses C/R, but unfortunately I'm stuck with it at present as it seems to have no serious competition which doesn't use invasive CP. My faves in the commercial bracket which use only serial or key file are: VSTi: Camel Audio: Alchemy U-he: Zebra2 Gforce: MTron Pro, ImpOSCar, Oddity Kjaerhus Audio: Spectra VSTfx: Camel Audio: CamelPhat, CamelSpace Christian Knufinke: SIR2 (Zero Latency Convolution) u-he: Uhbik (still testing the demo on these, but they sound great) nebula uses challenge response, but like ngarjuna already said, a re-install is no problem as it works for the same machine without asking for another 'response'.
But it would be a problem when trying to re-install in a significantly upgraded or new machine. This is definitely intrusive C/R in my book, and would rule it out as an option for me. By the way, I once upgraded my studio machine (which had NI Komplete2 installed) by just swapping the CD writer for a DVD writer. NI subsequently demanded a reauthorisation of each instrument.
Bloody cheek. Took over an hour. Linplug AND Rob Papen were for a few months on 'syncrosoft' dongle, but I thought BOTH decided to go back to serial numbers??
I don't remember Linplug stuff ever being anything but s/n protected. I've had a few of their plugs for quite some time now (albino3, octopus, RMIV/V), and that hasn't changed (for me anyway).i could've just missed it since i was already registered. Rob Papen's blue WAS s/n until v1.8, at which point it went synchrosoft.
AFAIK, that has not changed either. It wouldn't appear that any of his other plugs require synchrosoft from his website.
Albino3 is DEFINITELY still just serial number.no synchrosoft license option is available on his site. Also, virsyn cube2 is serial number protected.
