Has any one ever tried this/do you think it would work? Oh and I dont need a lecture, just a serious answer. I don't think it will work. When you transfer a license (license, not ID), they will require proof of residency (among other things) and they will take your old ID. If you just have an ID (not a license), I don't believe they will give you anything. There's no such thing as a mass state ID for a non-resident of the state - it wouldn't make any sense! I wouldn't take the chance, personally.
Since they probably don't transfer many licenses from canada to the US, they probably don't know the procedure offhand, which means that they will be calling coworkers over to ask, or even picking up the phone to check with canada.
